Lazio and calcio books in English?
« on: April 06, 2012, 04:26:24 PM »

I guess it will be hard to find many Lazio related books in English, but maybe some autobiographies.. Does Gazza have one?

What about other calcio books. I still haven't read "A season with Verona" so im planning on ordering it. Has anyone read it, and what other good books is out there?

The Jaap Stam one was released when he was still at Man Utd right, since you say it isnt Lazio related? That was the reason we got him if I remember correctly.

Correct ( if I remember correctly anyway :D )

However the reason I bought it at the time was only because he was a Lazio player and I knew I could get it in english.

Gazza has an autobiography as well and knowing his personality, I am sure it would be fun to read :)

If you come across any that are sold online in english of current or former Lazio players, do tell please. I'd like to buy some as well.

I haven't read many books related to Lazio, I did get the old Football Italia book from 1992-3 a few years ago but that was more a season review. I don't think there would be any biographies in English about any players other than Gazza:
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Gazza-My-Story-Paul-Gascoigne/dp/0747268185/ref=sr_1_10?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1333725857&sr=1-10

Looking on amazon there are a few books that might be of interest. Going by the title, this book may provide a purely neagtive view of Calcio but it seems to get good reviews and we are certain to feature in some capacity:
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Football-Fascism-Fandom-UltraS-Italian/dp/1408123711/ref=sr_1_5?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1333726047&sr=1-5

One of these two would be a memorable read in light of the recent situation:
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Arrivederci-Swansea-Giorgio-Chinaglia-Story/dp/1840182830/ref=sr_1_13?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1333726133&sr=1-13

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Chinaglia-Giorgio-Basil-Kane/dp/0671250493/ref=sr_1_4?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1333726636&sr=1-4

This comes out late this year, probably going to be Man City heavy but it has to have quite a bit about his time here:
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Roberto-Mancini-Biography-Luca-Caioli/dp/1906850445/ref=sr_1_3?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1333726296&sr=1-3

And last and certainly least, this doesn't sound right :wuzz: :
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Yuki-Maki/dp/6133042583/ref=sr_1_8?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1333726519&sr=1-8

Just came across a book on my shelf - Forza Italia by Paddy Agnew, an Irish Journalist who worked for one of the Italian papers, only read a few chapters a few years back but remember enjoying it and it has got good reviews - generally just talks all about il calcio and i remember a big piece about gazza when he signed for us in there.
