Asian Cup 2015
« on: January 12, 2015, 11:09:54 AM »

Anyone following?

Japan, Australia and Iran looking the goods so far without surprises. Doubts about Australia at the back though. The UAE weren't half bad too.

Saudis would be disappointed with losing to China.

It's fantastic to see Palestine in the comp too and the Aussie media has really embraced them, even though they're admittedly well off the standard of the other teams.

I'm actually following this tournament as well. South Korea need to gear up a bit though.

Jedinak not available against Oman either.

Havent followed the games so closely, but so far all strong teams have made it to the knockout phase.

S. Korea - Uzbekistan
China - Australia
Iran - Iraq
UAE - Japan

Iran has always been one of the favorites in this tournament, but I think it has been more than 30 years that we havent won the cup! I hope this time...

Meanwhile in Asian nations cup!  :twinkle:

Interesting statistic is that there were no draws in the group stage... And now it's knockout there will always be a winner. I wonder if that's happened in am international tournament before?

Japan look to be the best side to me...

Guys, please don't quote such big images ;)

I watched a few games of the group stage of the Asian Cup and saw nothing that good and attractive to make me keep watching it. It's similar to the Africa Cup of Nations... a big tournament for the continent but the football you see there is low quality.

Asian cup is not a high standard? Of course it is not as high as Europe or south America but it has players like kagawa, ("our very own" Honda) and cahill playing.

Not to mention Korea who knocked Italy out of world cup 2002.

It is pretty good standard.
