Well the current format is IMO unsustainable, the gap between Barca/Real, EPL sheiks, Bayern and Juventus vs the rest of Europe is becoming staggering. 4 Serie A teams in CL would eventually improve the quality of SerieA overall, instead of having the enormous gaps in quality and budget.
Especially when shit teams from all over Europe (and Russia, Turkey and Israel) get an almost free pass into the group stages after winning preliminaries against equally shit teams from elsewhere.
How is the CL benefiting from Dinamo Zagreb in the CL after finishing 4th in their group every time they reached the group stages in the last XYZ years?

Absolutely.

I just think it is good for Serie A.

I don't think so, for the reasons Crni Đorđe describes - UEFA are heading towards a European Superleague, which will involve the financial powerhouses of Serie A - AC Milan, Juventus, Inter, probably 1927 and at a stretch, Napoli. The fact the clubs would want it can be seen from pre-season schedules - big profit in it for the big clubs.

This revised format for the Champions League sweetens supporters for when this move takes place. I don't know when it will happen or what format it will take, but any steps in that direction devalues all domestic leagues and competitions, and that's what this is. It's something that has been spoken about for a long time.

Look at Juventus kicking up a fuss about the 25-man squad rule the FIGC has introduced - they have the power to buy the 25 best Italian the way Serie A is at the minute, but they are annoyed with the FIGC for imposing any limit on them. Truth is, I believe, there are 5 clubs in Italy who want a complete different set of rules to everyone else and if the opportunity comes to be a part of a competition which excludes Lazio et al., they'll jump at it. So I've no interest in supporting Italian teams in Europe, the co-efficients or this format change.

I can't see a European Super League ever happening. For every Lazio that is excluded, there would have to be a Napoli or riomma, a Liverpool or Arsenal, a Valencia or Sevilla. I just can't see it happening.

I can, because with this format change, they're pretty much there. And with FFP ensuring only those with money now can spend money in the future, Lazio's chances of being in the Champions League are only going to decrease in time.

That's why we need to be the ones to get there. We can't beat the system, our only chance is exploiting it to our advantage. 4th place isn't beyond us, we managed it recently, we could do it again.

We could do it again, sure, but the system is already making it incredibly difficult and the system just got harder. That's the point I'm trying to make. And I don't see how that helps Serie A or Lazio.

I'd wish the clubs who consider themselves too big and worthy for the rest of us to play with would just fu ck off and make their own European league and let the rest of us battle it out for national championships.

The "smaller" clubs needs to get together and protest against the direction football is heading and if the big clubs are so eager to create their own thing then let them...then the smaller clubs can have their own thing as well and then watch what will happen to football.

Because basketball is basketball. I like the sport but 90% of people here probably don't even know there is a Super League for basketball, where as if Arsenal or Liverpool or Chelsea were excluded from a football Super League, you would hear about it.

I don't see the point in making a league where teams don't earn their right to be in it. If thie super league changed every year ala the CL then it would make more sense. What evidence is there that Milan and Inter joining would be good, when they can't get in the top 4 in Serie A, just because historically they are a powerhouse?

Capitalism progressed too far and now is turned into fascism/socialism.

It's uncool to support none of the big 4/3/2/1 etc from each country.

Pathetic from UEFA FIFA and FA in England.
