I hope that serie-a is our priority-of course we should not forget that EL is very important for us at this moment.
Rotation ? Yes, but not suicide  :vcool:
 Players that should rest : Ciro(Caicedo), Alberto(he need rest),Lulic(Lukaku), Basta(Marusic/Patric),Radu(Felipe) and Leiva(Murgia).
Parolo will not play vs Genoa so he can lead the team.SMS gives us a lot of options and he should be in field. The midfield will be complete(considering Murgia had enough playing time last season with Marco and Sergej in field).
 Bastos-DV-Lukaku with 2 new players(Felipe-Marusic)
 Caicedo -? (My biggest problem).
After 3 days match vs Genoa ....Basta-Radu-Senad-Alberto-Ciro -Leiva rested.
I know it's early to talk about it ,but if DV play tomorow we should rest him in Sunday.

Closer we get to the game, the more talk there is of a complete rotation in the media.

Patric has been playing centre-back in training recently - that might indicate just how many players will be rested.
This might also indicate that Prce is lower in pecking order than Patric for central defender position.
I am curious on how Patric would perform as central defender.
I think he does not have the capability to be a central defender.
It is clear that we are lacking central defenders and Inzaghi might be forced to play patric out of position in case he need it.
I am still baffled why there is no central defender signed during last mercato and we go for 26 million youngsters which we dont really need.

Well, this is the rumoured line-up as of today.

(3-4-2-1); Strakosha; Patric, Bastos, Luiz Felipe; Maursic, Parolo, Leiva, Lukaku; Murgia, Luis Alberto; Caicedo.

There's a bit of speculation Di Gennaro could even get the nod over Leiva or that we could change formation. Personally, I think a lot could change between what's being reported as of now and Thursday night.

We can rest a couple of players but playing a full B team would be suicidal I feel.

That rumoured team there would do ok though.

What a defense line it would be if that rumour is true.
I dont know whether to be excited or worried.
It will be an experiment.
Patric as DRC. wow.

Ok, this is the line-up Inzaghi is working with in training - session is open to the media so highly likely this is the team to play against Vitesse:

(3-5-1-1): Strakosha; Bastos, Lucas Leiva, Luiz Felipe; Marusic, Parolo, Di Gennaro, Murgia, Lukaku; Luis Alberto; Caicedo.

So it seems instead of Patric at right centre-back, we're going with Lucas at centre-back.

Has Leiva played as central defender before?
With his physic, i thought he cant be a central defender.
Is the rotation too much?

The first formation with Patric as a CB sounds like suicide but I do like Leiva being there if we have to rest de Vrij.

It might not be perfect but I can stretch to maybe 75% close to perfect. That's all you get Cathal, 25%

Has Leiva played as central defender before?

Yes, he spent much of last season playing as a cente-back. He's not very familiar with the position, but he has played there before.

The first formation with Patric as a CB sounds like suicide

It was reported when the window closed that Inzaghi felt Basta and Patric could play centre-back if required. I liked what I saw of Patric in defence last season and could see the logic in giving that a try.

But away from home in Europa League, I'd rather not experiment.
