Yesterday, at Fregene, passed away Mario Facco, member of Scudetto-winning side 1974. Facco had 72 years and fought against ilness during last couple of years.

Facco was acquisition of Lazio during summer of 1968, when he arrived from Inter, together with Ferrucio Mazzola, with Lazio preparing season in Serie B, in aftermath winning promotion back in Serie A. Facco was defender, mostly positioned as full back or stopper on occasions. Should have been starter also in season of Scudetto, but nasty injury during season 1972-73 compromised his career and Sergio Petrelli took his place in starting XI during 1973-74, leaving to Facco only 6 apperances (all in starting XI). In october 1974 he left Lazio and signed for Avellino.

Facco played 126 matches for Lazio between Serie A and Serie B, scoring 6 goals.

Today would’ve been the 96th birthday of our legendary coach Tommaso Maestrelli who led the club to our first Scudetto in 1974. In the crulest of reversals of fortune he was then diagnosed with terminal cancer and tragically succumbed only 18 months later. A legend, what else can be said.

Felice Pulici, goalkeeper of generation '74 and long-time member of board passed away this morning. Pulici arrived in Lazio during summer of 1972 from Novara and immediately established himself as number 1 even his rival for position Avelino Moriggi was considered better at time.

At Lazio stayed until 1977, when after fight with then coach Luis Vinicio got transfer to native Monza. Returned to Lazio 1981, with Lazio in Serie B and with serious problems in and around club. 1982 left professional football. Played 202 matches with Lazio.

When Chinaglia bought club in summer 1983, he returned as one of directors and stayed in that position for much of next 20 years, being responsible for youth sector and DS. Left club 2004.

Was lawyer and represented Lazio at Calciopoli process in 2006.

Passed away on eve of his 73rd birthday.

What happened to the Scudetto they gave to Genoa before the first world war started? The FIGC said a year ago they would make some kind of decision for it but I guess they forgot...  :ohnoo:

Good bye Pulici. Never heard of him before but thanks for sharing stuff like this, Crni.

Above and beyond everything Djordje mentioned, Felice Pulici was a friend of LazioLand. Of the thousands that have passed through here in the last 20 years, there will be many with personal memories of Felice for whom yesterday was a particularly sad day.

Ermetico said a few words on our Facebook page in tribute.

"Lazio is not a football team. Lazio permeates you, it captivates you,  it chooses you. Like the children of Sparta it attracts to itself only those who can endure hardship and suffering - because when one is talking about Lazio nothing is easy" - Wilson quoting Pulici.

That quote made so much sense and answered questions I've had. We are the chosen ones! No wonder I keep coming back every Sunday, no matter how upset or frustated I was all week because of last Sunday. "Why can't I just stop watching the games, delete my forum account, block all Lazio related sites and spend my time on something else?" Well, I'm a captivated, permeated motherfücking laziale!

... but I'm sure I'm correct and you are wrong.
