No one care about this game, no?

First things first, I think Inzaghi will consider resting both de Vrij and Luis Alberto. Both have stamina issues and while I have no doubt they'll get 90 minutes, I'm not convinced either will be 100%.

Genoa have quite a few key players set to miss the game and under normal circumstances, I'd be confident. It will be be interesting to see what team lines out and in what condition.

I wouldn't be surprised if we see Caicedo instead of Luis Alberto.

 Genoa is danger at home.
I hope that they have respect for point that we gives them last season and big respect for all of what we did for them
3 points will be great motivation before the match vs Napoli.

Games against Genoa are always weird.. on paper we should beat them confortably every time, but they always seem to give us issues, especially at the Marassi.

Still, were on a high now, they are going to miss Lapadula, I think the safe money is on a Lazio win and Immobile to score!

Well, Lazio are the club against whom Genoa nabbed biggest number of victories and scored goals in Italy.   :wow:

I think it would be weird for Caicedo's performance on Thursday night not to have Inzaghi interested in a real top 2 pairing ie. A target man and a poacher.

Quite obvious that a back 4 can't be used effectively, at least until Wallace is back maybe. De Vrij, Bastos and Leiva maybe as the back three, while Basta and Lulic probably retain their positions on the flanks. Murgia and Di Gennaro in midfield maybe, with
Sergej behind Ciro and Caicedo. Probably the most appropriate XI to field, taking resting, suspension and injuries into consideration, though I think we would miss a ball winning midfielder in this game.

The Vitesse game was actually reassuring in the fact that now we know that Di Gennaro and Caicedo are more than deadwood, and even that Murgia could start a game and be very effective. On the flip side, we do know that Luis Felipe is some ways off becoming a regular starter, but could be a decent back up, and that if De Vrij gets injured we are royally ****ed.

Genoa uses 3 back formation and might be tough to crack.
inzaghi might need to adjust his tactic.
i dont want spal game repeat.
My preferred lineup:

                  Strakosha
            Bastos Devrij Radu
Basta Parolo Leiva Sergej Lulic
             Caicedo Immobile

Should be able change to 442 if needed

              Strakosha
Basta Devrij Radu Lulic
Marusic Leiva Sergej Lukaku
      Caicedo Immobile

Alberto has been full games recently and that's completely new to him, it would be strange if he's still 100%.  Altough it wasnt quit visable on thursday.  He kind of looks thesame on the field whenever.

If not him then yes Caicedo is the only option as Nani is according to the latest news still a week away from being close to ready.  Inzaghi could bring Alberto later on when needed.

Murgia being named as the starter to replace Parolo, and rightly so.  Don't know about De Vrij but seeing our already tight situation at the back i would play safe.  Di Gennaro deserves more minutes i think.

Maybe Bastos, Leiva and Radu at the back.  Basta, Murgia, Di Gennaro, Sergej and Lulic.  Caicedo and Ciro as duo.
Not a bad lineup at all.

Hard in back Imo. Bastos needs to upgrade himself. Inzaghi noted him in pre match. Otherwise we can use

Strakosha
Basta.     DV.       Radu

Patric/Marusic.  SMS.  Leiva.   Murgia.   Lulic

Ciro.   L. Alberto

I do not see a point in resting de Vrij. Especially against shitty Genoa who always seems to have luck against us. de Vrij is a must otherwise we are left with a very shaky defense.

Murgia instead of Parolo. that I can agree on. Instead of Caicedo up front with Immobile I would rather see Milinkovic Savic there. Caicedo can get in later on as a sub.

Marusic needs to get his shit together. He was probably the worst one against Vitesse and until he turns on his brain I would rather not see him play.

Inzaghi hinted this afternoon De Vrij trained well today and can help out.  Guess that means he will start.

Also said Murgia made crucial goals and deserves more, he is a player we can depend on.

Murgia seems to be very versatile. He can score with both feet and with his head. Definitely a player who can develop more.

Dynamic cm to say the least, box to box.  Should become Parolo's heir, hopefully.

Hard working, decisive, tackling, solid passing, dedicated.  This describes both Murgia and Parolo.
Sergej to of course but he would need an upgrade handle a deeper role.
He's miles ahead of Murgia at current when playing as an advanced CM but imo Murgia is naturally better as a controlling CM.

Appears likely we'll play our strongest XI with Murgia stepping in for Parolo. I can only assume Inzaghi is hoping to get a good first half in and look at resting others later in the game as it's going to be difficult to get some players 100% for Napoli if they see 90 minutes tonight.

Anyway, without Parolo, why don't Inzaghi call the duo Portuguese? That duo also aren't summoned during primavera game.

The schedule is supposed to be fair and therefore 'enough time'. But every player is different and every manager and their coaching staff and medical team will have their own thoughts and opinions.

Inzaghi would ideally like to give the players 1-2 days off after Vitesse but it's not possible, and it is likely that the players who have played the most minutes over a short period of time need the most rest, but like I said, every player is different.

Only Inzaghi and his staff knows how fatigued each individual player is.

Anyway, without Parolo, why don't Inzaghi call the duo Portuguese? That duo also aren't summoned during primavera game.

They are training with the first team but Inzaghi has said he is only going to call them up when they are ready.

The players themself supposed to be the one that know best of their condition, dont they?
But yes, this match is first test on how we cope with tight schedule.

Probably, he knows things will start to weigh for Alberto against Napoli, still no chance to bring in Nani so soon.
Luckely Parolo will be back then.  Hopefully today he'll be able to take of Alberto and Basta before the 90min.

So far so good. Genoa hasn't had a single attempt in the first half and only look dangerous when we allow them by throwing away the ball.

Weird first half though..I don't know if you guys agree with me, but I think Luis Alberto and Ciro has been pretty bad in first half..and literally every other Lazio player has been great. I don't know whether they are tired or if it's the pitch that's messed up, but both of them have been struggling with getting things going..

I don't think Inzaghi will take off Ciro, but I wouldn't mind seeing Caicedo against this slow Genoa defence.

Apart from the free kick SMS looks out of the game.
Murgia is really hyped up, hiss will to score is huge.

Couple of selfish moves on Ciro, and Basta's shot was just terrible, and from a good chance.

Genoa will only keep being able to move forward constantly if Luis Alberto keeps losing the ball or giving risky passes.  Almost every time Genoa went forward it was via Luis Alberto.  He's again like before very present but isn't creating anything.  It was similar at Vitesse but he's worse today, probably not 100%.  It would surprise me if he was because he's never played that many minutes in such a short time before in his career.

A vicious freekick from Sergej, should try some more often.  The rest is looking well except Basta keeps giving hopeless high and low cross and was able miss the goalframe from an open chance on the boxline.  I'm not saying a fullback should always score from that positions but to miss the entire goal is rather special.

In this kind of game it's so obvious we are missing that fast attacker up front to support Ciro.  Alberto, Sergej & Lulic can keep combining all night but Ciro will remain isolated.  A Felipe or Nani could make the action with their speed, it would be a totally different game.

I just turned on in time for the goal. Nothing against the 'usual' goalscorers but it was nice to see a central defender score to make it a bit different! This looks like the sort of game where we have to keep our heads and not do anything silly to let Genoa get in.

and another defensive blunder 2-2

Genoa had two attempts at goal all match, 2 goals.

Our midfield and attack might be good enough for a EL spot and push for a CL spot, but this defence is similar to what a mid table team..55 goals conceded last season in serie A..So far I don't see any patterns suggesting it will be different this season..

Not sure what Bastos is playing now. Looks like him and Leiva changed roles.

Great game to watch but can we also win normally without making it so difficult on us? This should have been 0-3 without any problems and heart attacks for laziali.

Can we make Gentiletti man of the match?

Good things: We put three goals behind them in a match where we at times didn't look likely to add another one after the first goal

Bad things: Our defence is useless, like I'm tempted to say our defenders are so bad I don't believe in them anymore. We're into the 2nd season with this same defensive backbone (in the central defence) and it's the same old story of piss poor marking, no situational awareness and no focus.

How long will we last by depending on 1 player to carry us...

It's like saying how much will Barca last without Messi, or Real without Ronaldo, or Juve without Dybala and more.

Top players like Immobile are the ones who can make difference in a long season.

Yes.
We dominated possession and chances but still conceded 2 goals.

Immobile. Again. Grazie.

Just a thought, would anyone have put money on Caicedo to score the one-on-one? That's where Immobile is so vital and irreplaceable.

Backline should donate their weekly salaries to Immobile until they can keep 3 clean sheets in row

I cannot quite understand why De Vrij was substituted when he was our leading defender. Wouldn't it be wiser to sub Leiva if he wanted to play without a DM?

How could Lukaku miss that chance? It's embarasing.
Strakosha was defintelty at fault for the 2nd goal and so was Leiva I presume.

We were very weak today. We needed Immobile to grab us by the hair at the last moment. However we cant keep on depending on him.

Important and deserved win. Their first goal (and to some degree second one), came out of nothing. Lazio had several good chances and two super chances. Nevertheless, it took a Laziale (Gentiletti) to come and save our ass. In case of draw or lost, the blame should had been put on Inzaghi.
MoTM: Immobile.

P.S. No Murgia wednesday evening against Napoli....

Another thriller because of enourmous defensive errors, should have been an comfortable win.
Again just like at Arnhem we are lucky to bring back the 3 points.

The willpower is like never before, for that many credits to Inzaghi.

3 points are in again, let's hope big lessons are learned with this, again.

Good win, Happy to have Ciro scoring again

I would have Bastos up there with Ciro as MOM, thought he played really well.

Positive entrance from Lukaku, good movement from Caicedo, too bad he didn't scored.

Like you guys i'm pissed off at our defence for conceding again, but:
- First goal is down to just pure luck, maybe De Vrij could have cleared it better,
- Second goal not sure why you blame the keeper so much, main culprit is Leiva(ball watching)

Look, we allowed a 16 year old SerieA debutant to score twice. Ot was just so tipically Lazio, but then another Laziale did the inthinkable and 3-2 for us thank you very much.
These points are worth a whole lot, beating genoa away and keeping a great streak alive, just wonderful

Enormous spirit make this victory possible and after road in Europe, road to Marassi isn't what you want but boys did it magnificently to replicate two times tied. Mentality grows in this occasion and that is what I will take as biggest victory tonight.

Forza Lazio!

Yes I completely agree, the spirit the team showed to win this is amazing. I remember how these matches ended under certain other managers, it's obvious Inzaghi got these guys fighting for the team which is great.

But you can't ignore the fact our defenders have a nasty habit of allowing opponents to score goals way too easily.

Look at our solid midfield, our wingers and Ciro..then imagine where we could be at the end of the season with a better defence.

The second goal was embarrassing to watch. No effort at all from us to block that ball.

I hope Inzaghi is aware of our shit defence and give Tare a hard time for not signing a replacement for Hoedt.

We saw two sides of our defense :
-first half : our defense control the ball, maximum safety...
-second half : two big mistakes.
We should finish the match in first half but Basta and Ciro didn't score.
 Great assist from Lukaku.
 What a assist from Gentiletti.
DV had a perfect first half-motm in first half but after two goals in second...motm Ciro again.
Spirit of team ?-Great, I just hope that except the spirit against napoli the brain will finish his part of the duty.
 Important 3 points.
