No real plan B if our star players are out. It's not like we didn't know this before. It's just that the injury bug hit us earlier this year. If we are unlucky, the injured players won't find their form again this season or even worse, play with a knock and make it worse. If we are lucky, they might just get healthy for the important final stretch of the season.

A player like LA needs Ciro to unfold his strengths. LA isn't Messi who makes everybody around him better. LA needs good players around him to look great. Nothing wrong about it. What can LA do? Caicedo and Correa can be dealed with by good defenses. What do we have on the wings? With Lulic and Marusic you won't threaten teams like Sevilla, hence not even average Serie A teams. Caicedo has done well this season, but no opponent will mistake him for Ciro. Caicedo is a solid 2nd striker, but no real threat to the goal. Correa a great dribbler who I like as a player because he offers something different, but just like Caicedo he isn't a goal scoring threat. With no players creating space for Correa or running behind him, he can only do so much with his dribbling.

SMS out injured makes our build-up much rougher. Because if we don't play out from the back it's 90% long balls to SMS, where he does a good job winning duels and securing the ball. We miss his presence more than his actual playmaking skills. SMS is a great player, but even last season he was never really the main playmaker. I think the term special chess piece is more fitting.

Bottom line, without our best players we look just average, boring and nothing special at all.

Hoping for another ugly game like at Frosinone, where we take a 1-0 lead and prevail under heavy pressure.

Strakosha
Ramos Acerbi Radu
Romulo Leiva Badelj Durmisi
Correa Neto
Caicedo

Defense is self-explaining. No other healthy options.

Romulo should be very motivated against the club he just left.

We haven't used a double holding midfield this season, despite even Inzaghi indicating it might be the case when Badelj joined. Well, I think now it's time for it. Leiva and Badelj have enough experience to position themselves to prevent attacks against us and bring some calmness to our game. Bring on Cataldi when Leiva's wheels start to fall off. Cataldi just isn't a box-to-box runner like evidenced in recent weeks, but he can do a job in the holding role.

Try to hit them on the counter with Correa and Neto, to give them some speed to think about. Caicedo for holding up the ball and having 2 options running behind the defense, rather than just one. We can risk this with a defensive minded central midfield. Neto should be fully motivated and Inzaghi using him shows that he's progressed. I've watched him closely in Auronzo and half a year later he looks very bulked up without losing his speed.

Another option would be to start Romulo in the Parolo role, if Inzaghi can't help himself and sticks with his 3511. Especially if Marusic isn't too tired. Not that it matters anyway, since Marusic is gonna Marusic, no matter if 1st or 95th minute...

What I don't want to see is a midfield of Cataldi-Leiva-Badelj. That's 3 holding mids and would leave our offense totally isolated.

neto from the start?, naa, I want it too but I think Inzaghi still gonna use him as subs

Milinkovic Savic is not the playmaker anymore because Inzaghi chose to give that role to Alberto. A huge mistake in my opinion, Alberto doesn't have the intelligence, is too fragile and doesn't have the work rate. Last season he was amazing but this season he is awful.

Many of these players are starters because Inzaghi won't give the new players a chance or there is no quality on the bench.

Lulic plays every game. He doesn't produce almost anything, he makes stupid mistakes that a player of his experience shouldn't, he is almost unrecognizable and besides his effort he is not doing anything good enough. He doesn't even lead the team on the pitch.

Yeah, we missed a lot of things in this game but the overall performance was boring and without almost any grinta. Missing two best players is a big thing but I won't satisfy with shitty performances from every other player in the team. Sevilla isn't that strong at all this season and they looked much better yesterday than they usually do because we played like shit.

Inzaghi is starting to lose it. When he forces Lulic and Marusic but has a very solid player in Durmisi on the bench and Romulo, who is Maradona for Marusic, you have to wonder what the **** he's doing. Badelj can also play sometimes, he's a good player and he never plays.

The players do not look remotely close to how they looked last season, they don't perform as a unit at all. This is on Inzaghi too.

As it stands we'll be without Bastos, Wallace, Parolo, Milinkovic, Luis Alberto & Berisha.
This means for the central midfield: Cataldi, Leiva, Badelj & possibly Lulic if required.
Leiva & Lulic anything but fresh.

Ciro will start or come from the bench, not certain wich.

For the backline only three available, but Radu is getting fatigued.  Acerbi also not in full shape anymore.

If we bring back 3 points from Genoa in this situation i'll be extatic, no matter how things went.
I don't care if Genoa dominate for 90min and we win with a penalty or an owngoal, it's excusable.
