Since it's still claimed Tare wants Wesley in the summer, the price went up again last night as he put in the winner against Salzburg.
Not only this but he played a very good game. Hardly ever you see a player of this size who can move so fast and works so hard. He simply earned that goal for the shift he put in. Wesley is like a supercharged Caicedo.

Tare should have pounced in the summer. If he is willing to join us after all, it will be at almost double his summer price tag.

Yes that describes him in short, couldn't say it better.

Brugge was in bad shape and lesser form to start this game but with motivation and workrate they made the difference eventually in the second half.  Still remains a huge task to actually qualify next week.

It's bitter to lose, but it's not over. And this is very important for our players - especially for their heads.

I personally expected a much higher loss. To be realistic - we played without Ciro and SMS, during the match we lost Alberto and Parolo, and Inzaghi had to throw in a not 100% fit Luiz Felipe for Bastos.

The players were fighting for not conceding another goal, and i liked the fighting attitude. Unfortunately we were not able to be more dangerous in the attack - but that was clear, when you didn't have Ciro, SMS and for another half Alberto available.

People are bashing the players, but what do you want to do?... We didn't have any other offensive alternative on the bench!!

The german commentators said it pretty well ... Lazio did all what they were able to, but not only the missing players like Ciro and SMS, but also especially the players Lazio lost during the game, made it impossible for Lazio to get more out of this game.

It would be huge if we can turn that next wednesday, but that is nearly impossible with our keyplayers injured.
It's difficult, but Sevilla has to bring the result home. We should sit back and hold as long as possible a 0:0 and try to push in the last 20 minutes.
We simply have to look at our power too. We can't go out there and attack like hell.

However, the most difficult thing now is.... the Genoa match. The team has 2 days, and then play aways to Genoa, then again 2 days rest - match vs. Sevilla.....  :what: Luckily, the Udinese game is suspended, so we will have then 6 days until the Coppa game vs. Milan.

I personally doesn't expect anything from the Genoa game. The team can only surprise me.
This will be very though. I expect Genoa to play offensive with nearly a 4-3-3 with Lazovic slightly behind Kouame and Sanabria.
Our defense has to stay tight, and our midfield needs to put their midfield more under pressure to hold their fullbacks Criscito and Biraschi back.

The problem i see is, that we maybe see a midfield which never played together, and because of that don't expect much from this game + they prepare 7 days for this,...we 2.... :rolley:

If i would be the coach, i would go out defensive minded and try to hit them on counter. Keep the center of our midfield tight, but would let our wingbacks play higher to keep their fullbacks away.

As long as it stands 0:0....the better for us.

My first 11:

Strakosha

Luiz Felipe - Acerbi - Radu

Romulo - Badelj - Leiva - Lulic/Berisha - Durmisi

Correa - Caicedo

We don't know the fitness level of Ciro, but i would not risk him from the beginning. I would bring him later if he is not fully fit.
Durmisi, Badelj and Romulo should be fitter than others. I would give them this match time and use them on wednesday too.
And in my opinion...after Correa and Caicedo also getting tired slowly, it's the perfect game to bring on later Pedro Neto to see what he can :twinkle:.

Good points by you Vandal and Evesto. Quite contrary, but both are mostly true.

This was the game and result I expected. Sevilla had better quality on the field and scored the goal. Not much different from the Empoli and Frosinone game, where we had better quality and scored one. Could've been 1-1 but also 0-2. It's really nothing to moan about, as Sevilla always steps up their game in EL and imo are the 4th best team in Spain.

But Vandal's points can't be dismissed. Our defense has quite solidified. There are still mistakes, but it's not like we concede a lot. Considering we play with very attacking  wingbacks and just one true midfield cover. But we haven't scored 2 goals ever since the first game of the year against Novara. We have trouble creating from open play. We missed some good chances as well, but aren't creating enough. Again, I'm not just talking yesterday's game against the probable EL champions, but the whole last month.

Good point about SMS not being the playmaker he should/could be. He is more of a chess piece who can hold the ball and show some magic once in a while, but he isn't a consistent playmaker. LA has shown more to me in terms of pure playmaker, demanding the ball and picking out smart passes but also attacking passes. However, both are injured and there is nobody to step up. Hard for Caicedo and Correa to do much without good service. Leiva tried to be more of a driving force but it's not his game. Cataldi is a holding mid only and it was quite obvious for a while he is no mezzala. He was bad but shouldn't play there. Lulic tried hard as always, but his first touch and concentration are fading. Wingbacks as uninspiring as always. Even though he couldn't create anything, I like Durmisi as a threat much better than Lulic. He fits the role and has potential to evolve into the LWB we need.

I hope for a quick and clean EL exit next week. Squad is falling apart and advancing in EL hurts our chances in domestic competitions. Try to steal 3 dirty points at Genoa like we did against Empoli and Frosinone, play 1b team in Sevilla and focus on Coppa, then derby. Vs Milan it will be a hard fought 180 minutes af least, but if we can make it, not very often you face Atalanta/Fiorentina in Coppa final. Both good teams but absolutely doable for us.

I wouldn't rule it out us scoring an early goal in Sevilla and put some pressure on them, who knows. Crazier things have happened. Deep inside I just want a clean exit though.

Let's put some things in perspective here for a second shall we.
Sevilla came here comfortably with their best starting 11 fit and ready.
Playing away first is a huge gift, let's not forget that either.

We stepped up with our starting eleven rattled in 3 positions and with another 3 usual starters still in the team only half fit.  That means 3 subs + 3 starters only half ready.

Compare that with Sevilla's situation before judging.  I say this in general, not pointing at anyone.

We still did not deserve to lose, a draw would have been the only fair result.
Sevilla didn't overplay us except on the goal that was actually nothing more then losing the ball in a very unneccesary moment.  They executed nicely of course but we did it to ourselves.

I would like to see thesame Sevilla eleven here against us when our starting 11 is fit and ready.
Different story then imo.

It's a pity this loss but let's no dramatise.  The only good reason to progress in the EL now is when you have a chance to win it.  And with our constact fitness and injury problems the team isn't up for this pure and simple.  Let's just hope we get enough players ready to keep competing in Serie A for that 4th spot.
